Our Services in Deweyville, TX

Deweyville is a small community of under 600 people on the Sabine River about twenty-six miles from our Beaumont shop. The river is the state line here, and although Louisiana sits directly across it, we are licensed in Texas and we work in Texas only. Deweyville has a flood history that is more severe than almost anywhere else we serve. The Sabine River flood of 2016 put devastating water through this community, and Hurricane Harvey followed in 2017. Two catastrophic events inside eighteen months is not something most towns absorb. Porter's Plumbing Solutions has served Deweyville since 2022, with master plumbers carrying 25 years in the trade. We are licensed through the TSBPE, insured and bonded. Water quality and backflow requirements here fall under TCEQ rules.

Two Catastrophic Floods, Eighteen Months Apart

The 2016 river flood and Harvey in 2017 reshaped this community physically and they reshaped its plumbing. Houses were gutted and rebuilt, some more than once. Some were raised. Some were replaced entirely. What that means practically is that a Deweyville property's plumbing age often has nothing to do with the house's original build date, and assuming otherwise leads to wrong conclusions fast. So we ask. When was the house last worked on, was it elevated, was anything replaced wholesale versus patched. Those answers tell us more about what we are going to find than the year the house was built.

Elevated Structures and Plumbing in Open Air

A substantial number of homes here were raised after the floods, and raising a house fundamentally relocates its plumbing. Lines that previously ran through a slab or inside conditioned space now run underneath an elevated structure, exposed to outside air along their full length. That changes two risk profiles at once. Freeze vulnerability goes up sharply, which Winter Storm Uri demonstrated across this region in 2021. And the lines are physically reachable, so impact damage becomes possible in a way it was not before. Insulation on an elevated house is not optional and it needs to be done correctly: exterior-rated material, properly sealed, with attention to every transition and elbow. Loose wrap does very little on a hard freeze night.

River Ground, Groundwater and Buried Lines

Sabine River bottomland holds water and the table sits high. Any buried line is in damp ground much of the year. Sewer laterals with cracks or separated joints therefore take on groundwater continuously, and the house presents with backups that follow rainfall. Repeated flooding also shifts ground around buried pipe, so joints that were sound before 2016 may not be now. A camera inspection is the fastest way to settle what is actually happening, and on a property with this flood history it frequently finds something worth knowing about before it becomes an emergency. The Gulf Coast clay in this bottomland holds water rather than draining it, which is why saturation lingers well after the river drops.

What We Bring on a Deweyville Call

Twenty-six miles is a real drive, and the variability in what we might find here is higher than average because of the rebuild history. That means the phone conversation matters. Whether the property is on municipal service or septic, whether it was elevated, what was replaced and when, and whether the current problem is at one fixture or throughout. Those answers determine what we load. We would rather ask four extra questions than make the trip twice. On a call this distance that is a practical courtesy rather than a formality.

FAQ — Deweyville

Do you service the Louisiana side of the river?
No. We are licensed in Texas and we work in Texas only. The Sabine is the edge of our service area here.
Our house was raised after the flood. What changes for plumbing?
Your supply and drain lines now run in open air under the structure, so freeze risk goes up considerably and physical damage becomes possible. Proper exterior-rated insulation, sealed correctly, is the main thing to address.
The house was rebuilt. Is the plumbing effectively new?
Sometimes, and sometimes not. Many rebuilds joined new work to surviving original pipe. Those junctions are where failures concentrate, so it is worth knowing what was actually replaced versus patched.
Why do we back up when the river comes up?
Groundwater entering a sewer lateral through a crack or open joint. Repeated flooding shifts the ground around buried pipe and opens joints that were previously sound. A camera inspection will show it.
