New Construction Plumbing Services in Hamshire, TX
Most of Hamshire is rice and cattle ground, so a new building out here stands out. Porter's Plumbing Solutions has been part of one of the bigger ones: The Paddocks, a multi-unit community going up in Hamshire. Our crew plumbed the first 10 units, and in October 2026 we roughed in five more in one day, with every drain and vent stub-out set across the pad and ready for the slab. That job is the reason this page exists. Hamshire is about nineteen miles from our Beaumont shop, and we make that drive for a single house, a shop with a bathroom, or the next phase of a multi-unit build. Porter's has served Hamshire since 2022. Our master plumbers bring 25 years in the trade and are licensed through the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE), and the company is insured and bonded.
Five Units on One Pad: How a Multi-Unit Rough-In Comes Together
A multi-unit slab is not five houses side by side. The units share a pad, so the drain lines, vents and water supply for every unit get laid out together before any of it goes in the ground. Each unit needs its own stub-outs for the kitchen, the bathrooms and the laundry, and each one has to land exactly where the plans put the walls and fixtures, because the framing crew will build around them. At The Paddocks, the five units of the new phase were roughed in start to finish in one day, with every drain and vent stub-out set and the pad ready for the concrete. Speed only matters if the layout is right, and on a shared slab one misplaced stub-out is a problem for the whole pour, not just one unit.
Getting Drain Fall Right on Flat Rice Country
Hamshire is about as flat as this part of the Gulf Coast gets, and flat ground is the hard case for drain lines. Every horizontal drain needs a steady downhill slope to carry waste away, and on a lot with almost no natural grade, all of that fall has to be designed into the layout under the slab. Come up short anywhere and the building gets a line that drains slowly for as long as it stands. The soil matters too. Gulf Coast clay swells when it is wet and shrinks when it dries, and it keeps moving under a slab for years. Under-slab drain lines are bedded and supported so they hold their slope as the ground shifts, because once the concrete is poured, fixing a sag means breaking it back out.
Planning for the Storms Jefferson County Has Already Seen
Hurricane Rita in 2005, Harvey in 2017 and Imelda in 2019 all put water across Jefferson County, and Winter Storm Uri froze pipes all over the Golden Triangle in 2021. A new build is the cheapest moment to plan for both kinds of trouble. For water, that means thinking about where the cleanouts and the main drain connection sit, and whether a backwater valve makes sense on the line. For freeze, it means keeping supply lines out of exterior walls where the layout allows, insulating anything that has to run outside, and putting shutoffs where an owner or property manager can actually reach them. On a multi-unit property, a reachable shutoff for each unit means one leak does not take water away from every tenant.
From the Slab to the Last Fixture
The under-slab rough-in is the first stage, and the one that has to be right before anything else happens. After framing, the top-out runs supply lines and vents up through the walls and out the roof. Trim-out comes last, once cabinets and finishes are in: faucets, toilets, showers, water heaters and the final connections. We handle all three stages, plus gas line installation for ranges and water heaters. On a phased build there is real value in the same plumbing company coming back each time, and Porter's has come back for each phase at The Paddocks so far.
