Our Services in Mauriceville, TX

Mauriceville is an unincorporated Orange County community of roughly 3,000 people about nineteen miles from our Beaumont shop, known regionally for crawfish and sitting in the low, wet country north of Interstate 10. It is also one of the places Hurricane Harvey hit hardest in 2017. Water came into homes here that had never taken water before, and the community was still working through that when Tropical Storm Imelda arrived in 2019. Porter's Plumbing Solutions has served Mauriceville since 2022. Our plumbers are licensed master plumbers through the TSBPE, and we are insured and bonded.

Rebuilt Twice in Two Years, and the Pipe Shows It

Very few communities in our service area were repaired twice inside twenty-four months. Mauriceville was one of them, and it produced a housing stock with genuinely layered plumbing. A typical house here may have original 1970s or 1980s pipe, a section replaced in 2017, and another section done in 2019, each with the materials and by the hands available at the time. The pipe itself is usually fine. The junctions between eras are where problems live, because dissimilar materials joined without proper transition fittings corrode at the connection. So when we get called for a leak that seems to have appeared out of nowhere, we start at the transitions rather than at the fixture. It saves time and it usually finds it.

Low Ground, Standing Water and Septic Fields

This is low country and the soil holds water. Many properties here are on septic, and a drain field in ground that stays saturated has very little reserve capacity. After Harvey and again after Imelda, a lot of fields in this area were submerged for extended periods. Some recovered. Some have been slowly declining since without the owner connecting the two events. The indicators are the same ones that matter anywhere: the whole house draining slowly at once, toilets gurgling when another fixture runs, soft ground or odor above the tank or field. If your system has not been the same since 2017, that is worth investigating rather than living with.

Wells, Pressure Tanks and Water Quality

Private wells are common on the larger properties here. We handle the plumbing from the pressure tank into the house and everything downstream of it. Water hardness is the persistent issue in this region regardless of source. Scale builds on water heater elements and in the tank bottom, forcing the unit to run longer and fail before its rated life. It also collects in fixture aerators and inside mixing valves, which is the usual explanation when a shower stops holding a steady temperature. If a well took floodwater at any point, the plumbing side deserves a look as well, particularly the pressure tank connections and anything that sat submerged.

Freeze Damage Across Spread-Out Properties

Winter Storm Uri in 2021 arrived while a lot of Mauriceville was still finishing flood repairs, and it hit properties with substantial pipe running outside conditioned space. The failures were where they always are: runs out to shops and barns, well house plumbing, exposed lines on exterior walls, and anything added over the years without insulation being considered. The fix is unglamorous and effective. Exterior-rated insulation, properly sealed, buried lines confirmed at real depth, and shutoffs positioned where you can reach them without standing in the weather. We will walk it with you and point out the specific runs that matter on your property.

FAQ — Mauriceville

Our house flooded in 2017 and again in 2019. What fails first?
The joints between repair-era pipe and original pipe. Different materials joined without the right transition fittings corrode at the connection, and that is where most post-flood leaks originate.
Can a septic system be damaged by flooding even years later?
Yes. A drain field that was submerged for an extended period may never fully recover, and the decline can be gradual enough that people do not connect it to the flood. Slow drains throughout the house are the sign to act on.
Do you work on well systems?
We handle the plumbing side, from the pressure tank into the house and all the fixtures and lines downstream. Tell us you are on a well when you call so we arrive prepared.
How far is Mauriceville from your shop?
About nineteen miles from our Beaumont location. It is a routine call for us.
